Salt Dough Ornaments:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
3/4 cup warm water
Mix everything in a bowl. Knead on a floured surface for 10 minutes. You need to do this because it helps the dough to become smooth and pliable. While you're kneading, if the dough seems too sticky add a little flour as you go. Roll out dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out as desired. I used a straw to poke a hole for the ribbon and then used a toothpick to prick small holes for ventilation. Place ornaments on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and cook at 200F for 4 hours.
After they were cool, I painted them with acrylic paint. After the paint had dried, spray them with clear sealant, which gave them a nice shiny look.
My notes:
*After you roll out the dough, put it in the fridge. This makes it easier to work with.
*Put flour on the dough if you're doing handprints, otherwise, it'll get all over babies hands!
Here's what it looked like in the oven:

This one got kind of smooshed and I thought it looked like a ball glove. So I decided to paint it that way with a Cards logo for Papa.

Pretty easy, cheap craft for grandparents and to commerate baby's first Christmas. Plus I think AR liked playing with the dough!
OH I wish I had known about this last year. Raegan's hands were so tiny this would have been so cool to do! Maybe with the next one LOL
