Fun times at Sky Zone Fenton!

Last night AR and I got to invite our friends to have a party at Sky Zone in Fenton. Sky Zone Fenton offers open jump, 3 sky slam courts, skyrobics fitness classes, foam zone, ultimate dodgeball, sky hooks, and a challenge zone. When we arrived, we were welcomed by this sign which made it easy for our friends to find us.

All the girls got checked in and got some awesome sky socks, which they were all digging the new pink colored ones.

As you can tell, we had a variety of ages which is the great thing about Sky Zone. The youngest in our party was 1 and the oldest was 12 but they were all entertained and had an awesome time.

AR was pumped to see Soph and Emma and we're so glad they were able to come out on a school night to hang out with us. 

Haley was happy to skip Girl Scouts and bring her friends to jump.

While the big girls were great about hanging out and helping with the little girls, they did sneak off a few times to jump on their own... these two didn't notice though because they were having such a great time!

The girls were all over the place! They were jumping on the trampolines, doing flips into the ball pit, and doing cartwheels up and down the long trampoline area. 

As you can tell, it was hard to get them to stop playing to snap this picture!

We got to jump for an hour then we headed up to the party room where we had pizza, drinks, and cake. All I had to provide was the cake and Sky Zone took care of the rest. It was super easy on this momma's end!

There was plenty of room in the party room and it didn't feel crowded at all. The party hostess was super polite and very helpful.

And Haley finally gave me a shoutout on the Snap! #auntwin

Now, straight from the mouth of the girls themselves, I think it's safe to say the foam pit and trampolines were the major hit of the party!!!

The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name...

...I have to say I absolutely adore personalized books! When I saw The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name come across my Facebook feed, I knew I had to get one for AR and add it to her collection. The book is from LostMyName. As a family, the three of us sat down to read the book. It starts off with a little girl who lost her name and is on a journey to find it. This isn't your generic throw in your name here and there personalized book. No, the entire thing was geared around her! For example, on the first page, she met an Aardvark who tells him that he has an extra A so she can have one. Then the rest of the story goes out to meet characters that start with letters of her name, each of them giving her their letter and spelling out her name in the end.

AR loved the illustrations and continued to flip through the book even after we were done reading it. She wasn't familiar with some of the characters so I had to explain what a unicorn was which led to a whole discussion of horses vs unicorns. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to get a personalized book, perfect birthday present!

Seriously, this girl loved it!!!

I turned around and she was flipping pages on her own.

Merry Christmas to Me!!!

...Last Friday was a pretty sweet day for me! First off, I was off work so that's always fun. Then I headed down to Cape, but first stop was at my sister's. She gave me my early Christmas present from my entire family-an iPhone!!! Wow, twelve days before 2015 and I finally entered the twenty-first century! Crazy to think 2.5 years ago I didn't even have texting! Well, watch out, world! Now I'm going to be a social media queen (hopefully not! I plan to try to limit myself and not use my G a ton!).

I was supposed to meet my dad at eleven but I was early so I decided to swing by "The Bar" from the movie Gone Girl. Talking to a friend on my way down there, I found out that the place had been vandalized and the windows broken so I guess that's what these guys were doing, not realizing they were being a total buzzkill for my photo. Trying not to look too touristy in my hometown, I snapped a quick pic, the very first on my new phone, not realizing that #crackkills. :-/

My dad and I went to lunch at Dexter BBQ-mmm, delish! Then we headed over to the Toyota dealership where I traded in my Tahoe for this little go-cart, a 2014 Toyota RAV4. The deal was pretty sweet and I couldn't pass it up. Honestly, I hated the Tahoe. It was so wide and I really didn't get any more storage than I did in the Tribute so that's why I decided to downgrade. It drives great, but yeah, the storage is pretty small in it. The hardest thing I'm struggling with is that I've finally decided to turn AR around so she's forward facing. I know, I know, it's time, but it's still hard for this Momma because it means my baby is growing up.

Saturday morning, I headed to the fire station to have AR's carseat installed. Saturday morning hanging out with firefighters, well, don't mind if I do! When I got home, we went for a ride and she kept saying, "I get to ride in the front seat!" and "Thank you, Mommy, for my car. It's so cool!"

Of course, now that I'm in my new ride, I have to protect my seat backs. A huge thank you to Dot Dot Travel for the car seat back protectors. As you can see from this picture, they've already come in handy.

All in all, it was a pretty sweet day!!! Thanks family for the phone and thanks to me for the new RAV!

Baby Rockstar Lullaby Renditions of FROZEN!!!

...so Sunday night around 11PM, AR wakes up yelling, "Mommy! Come get me, please!" The house was silent, it was just her and me, so I walked into her room to see what was going on. When I get into her room, our conversation went like this:

Me: What's wrong, baby?
AR: The monkey touched my back. (not crying, but obviously upset)
Me: What monkey? You mean Ms. Monkey? (she has a lovey sock monkey)
AR: No, the old monkey.
We moved all her pillows and quilt and couldn't find a monkey. I brought her to bed with me and all day Monday, she talked about this monkey. I finally realized that it was the black gorilla that the local carwashes have standing outside, waving at people trying to draw them in. Recently, she's become very aware of them.

Anyway, long story short, that next night, she did not want to go to sleep because of this monkey (didn't help we saw him on the way home that night either!). Luckily, the Baby Rockstar Lullaby Renditions of Frozen CD was sitting in our mailbox.

AR was so excited about this! She got in her crib, started talking about the monkey, and then pointed to her CD player and said, "I want my Frozen CD, Mommy!" Happily, I turned it on, gave her a kiss, and walked out of the room. No tears, nothing!!! I highly recommend this CD for any little Frozen fan that needs help winding down at nap/bedtime.

Homemade Almond Milk!!!

...Over the winter months, we switched AR to almond milk at home. She had this ongoing cough so we tried to eliminate dairy as best we could. I don't really think it made any difference but we've continued to just do almond milk at home and then she drinks regular milk everywhere else.

When I saw the opportunity to try out an Everyday Kitchen Essentials Nut Milk Bag, I thought it would be fun to try to make our own almond milk. Other than blowing up my blender (operator error!), it was fairly easy and tasted delicious!

First you need one cup almonds. I used this whole can.

Soak them overnight in a bowl of unfiltered water.

Other supplies needed (I improvised so just pretend): Cinnamon, sea salt, maple syrup, agave.

After the almonds soak overnight, strain and blend with 4 cups of filtered water on high for 5 minutes.

Eh...blender broken so we moved everything to the Magic Bullet which we just had to do in parts.

Once well blended, dump blender into nut bag and strain.

Squeeze nut bag like, well, like you're milking a cow. This was really easy but I feel like I should have done something with the leftover nut mess. Or maybe I wouldn't have had as much nut mess had I done it in a blender and blended longer...

Pour back into blender and mix with couple tablespoons of maple syrup, squeeze of agave, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Blend for one minute and enjoy! I got two large glasses out of it!

This was definitely sweeter than the almond milk AR was used to so of course she drank this down quickly! Overall the nut bag was super easy to use and did a great job keeping the nut mess out of our milk. The only thing was that I didn't know how to wash it??? I rinsed under sink water then put in a bowl to soak and laid out to dry. I doubt we'll be making our own almond milk on a regular basis but it was still a fun activity and something we'd do on special occasions.

...As some of you may know, we're in the thick of potty training. A few weeks ago, I was pulling into a parking lot when a guy I work with called me. He happens to be a former Olympic athlete and has played for one of our local professional sports teams. I park the car and get in back to get AR out of her carseat. I finally have a matching set of glasses! What's even better though is that the cups can hold both hot OR cold beverages-score! Alphabet Jumbled App Review...

...At my house, it's letters all day long! If I wear a shirt with letters on it, AR will point out all the vowels and the rest of the letters are W (they're really not). I downloaded the app Alphabet Jumbled on my Galaxy Note hoping that we would be able to learn that not ALL consonants are W.

We got to the page where it's all the letters and wouldn't you know the little stinker just kept hitting W over and over again! We've done the Easy Jumble game and she's getting better with it. Cross your fingers that soon enough, she'll stop saying W for every consonant!
