...first off, thank you so much for all the feedback yesterday! I've got some ideas to get the ball rolling so hopefully I'll have a few posts or so coming up soon. The first one: My Thoughts on Ugly Sweater Parties
The first I'd heard of an Ugly Sweater Party was back in 2008. I thought the idea was FANTASTIC! Now in 2011, I think it's totally overrated. Every time I turn around, people are looking for ugly sweaters or heading to that kind of party...I think it's time we find another theme!
In 2009, Matt and I attended our first (and only) Ugly Sweater Party. What my friends did though was you had to DECORATE an ugly sweater and bring it to the party. Once you arrived, you drew names and then had to wear that person's sweater. Me? I LOVED it because I love to be crafty. Matt? He HATED it. Apparently, men don't like dressing likes fools and then heading into public...who knew?
So if I were to have an Ugly Sweater Party...OH-idea! A Bachelorette Ugly Sweater Party would be awesome! Kind of like wearing your old bridesmaids dresses instead you could make wedding like shirts to wear. I'm a genius! Watch out Stevie, you're getting an Ugly Sweater Bachelorette Party this spring.
Sorry I got sidetracked there! I think Ornament parties are cute and you could even throw in themes each year so it's not always the same...retro, ugly, Santa, reindeer, personalized (you'd have to draw before). What about a Reindeer Party? Everyone wears antlers and you could decorate the antlers.
What do you all think about Ugly Sweater Parties? What other kind of holiday theme parties could people throw? Happy Friday!

I would prefer the ornament party, but any party is a distant memory--unless it involves diapers and jungle gyms.
I think an ugly bridesmaid dress party is brilliant. Seriously!
I'm the kind of girl that says "don't knock it till you try it"; so I will, at least throw or attend an Ugly Sweater Party! I also like any idea where you dress up likes fools just for a laugh, because lets be honest laughing is good for your health! Maybe I should just throw a laughing party and we simple laugh like fools all night until the tears run down our legs (okay I'm getting carried away) and our stomach muscles hurt!
My friend took an ugly sweater party up a notch last year & wore a full on green formal dress with long red gloves & red shoes. It was hilarious & she was the hit of the party!
LOL considering I'm having one tonight, all I can say is I've never been to one - I didn't realize they were that big! I just know a lot of my friends were sick of going to their stiff, boring formal Christmas parties (I'm guessing work parties, unless their families really suck LOL) so I decided to do this because I had heard about it and thought it would be fun and laid back. Most of the people coming tonight hadn't ever heard of this and thought it was a great idea. You were just lucky enough to be ahead of the times back in the day!! LOL
I just like to throw parties, I love the ugly bridesmaid dress theme! Unfortunately I don't have any of mine left, I think I always partied too hard for them to make it out alive he he he
Oh, I also have several cookie-ornament parties I go to every year, I only exchange cookies at one or two of them though because I can only handle so many cookies. LOL But I always leave with a super cute new ornament!
Earlier this year I had a "new life, new house" party and people came over to celebrate my new life and helped re-paint and decorate my "new" house. White elephant exchange parties are always fun too.
