Premium Meme Award...

...woohoo! I got an award. It is the Premium Meme 2009 Award! I received this award from A Day in the Hay. So thank you thank you thank you!

"To accept this award, the recipient must list 7 traits about themselves and then pass the award onto 7 other bloggers who deserve recognition for the personality they share through their blog."

1. Organized yet messy- I am the most organized person. I love to plan...sometimes months in advance but if you look at my desk at work=its a disaster! While some people might not thing I'm organized at first site, I can still find anything I need. During my wedding shower, they asked Matt questions and I had to give the answer. One was, what is the one trait you really like about Alyssa? His answer: my organizational skills!

2. Fair- I believe strongly in always being fair. I'm the type of supervisor that gives credit when credit is due. For example, I can think of a couple of times that someone suggested an idea to me then I in turn suggested it in a management meeting. Everyone then thought it was a great idea and right away I say whoever thought it up.

3. Nervous Nellie- I am constantly nervous all the time about anything and everything. It's craziness!?!

4. Prompt- This might go along with organized but I'm the type of person that gets a wedding invitation in the mail and sends back the RSVP card the same day.

5. Turning into an introvert- Those of you that have known me forever may be saying WHAT!?! But it's true, I no longer am the center of attention at get-togethers, I like to sit back and take in what everyone else is saying. I rarely talk to random people I don't know. I guess I'm just growing up...who knows?

6. Family person- Family always comes first with me.

7. Creative- Most of the time, I'm pretty creative. However, I'm at a point in my life that when I go to paint-your-own pottery stores (which I LOVE), I have to ask myself where am I, or whoever I'm making this for, going to put this. I've turned into a practical person lately-so there's two traits for one!

The Credit Card Drama...

...never ends. So, thinking everything is okay with this stupid credit card, I log on this morning and see a charge to Stone’s Gas Station for $99.92. I call BOA and after being transferred three times then hung up on, calling back and being transferred again, I have to wait for paperwork, which will take 7-10 days…, business days, to make a claim even though THEY caught it and THEY told me they stopped it and then it still showed up. So here goes the fun fun fun of not having to pay for someone else’s gas. I love BOA! Not to mention they asked me like 5 times for my credit card number in which I replied, "I don't know my credit card number. You cancelled my card and told me this charge would not go through. I haven't received the new card that you've said you sent." Grrr....here starts the headache.

Plus I think the credit card thief stole 4 Pyrex dishes from me house!!! Come on people...give me a break!!!

Yum, yum!!!

...now here's the post I've been slacking on! I haven't mentioned that our tomato plants are doing GREAT! We have lots of green ones and we've had about 6 turn red. Matt is loving it because I'm putting them in his lunch and making salsa. I've been using the Magic Bullet to make salsa and wowser! I put ONE jalapeno in from our garden and it is HOT HOT HOT!!! Here is some jalapenos, tomatoes and the heart rock I found the other day.

I made some blackberry cobbler. It was super easy and here's the final result.

Matt thought it was delish!

The Farm...

...so last night after Matt got off, we drove out to the farm to pick up a fridge (long story I won't get into). It was nice and cool and the dogs had a blast. We sat by the pond and watched the two of them (Emma and Shadow not Matt and I) chase each other going 90 miles an hour then jump in the pond to cool off and get a drink. Then we walked down to our deer stand and saw deer tracks so that's a good sign for us come November. I think we probably walked at least 3 miles. We were ALL exhausted by the time we got back to the farm house. Along the walk, we saw that the blackberries were turning so we ate a couple off the bush and decided we'd pick some and I'd attempt to make a blackberry pie or cobbler or something with blackberries later this week (I'll post about it). So Matt starts to wheel out the fridge and I start to pick blackberries. Not realizing they have thorns I go to town starting from the bottom and working my way up. All was fine until it trapped me! I was yelling "OWWW!" when Matt came over and asked what was wrong. I pointed to my ear where he saw two thorns sticking out! So whoever eats this blackberry thing that I make better really enjoy it because I took PAIN for these blackberries!!! We headed home and stopped at a restaurant called Backroads Pizzeria and Grill. It was delicious and the best part-I have leftovers for lunch today!!! YUM!!! When we got home, everyone passed out because we were all exhausted!!! Work today and tomorrow then the fair is all next week and Matt will be done with his online class after his final on Monday night-THANK GOODNESS!!! He's taking Intermediate Algebra this fall so Angie I might be asking you for help!!!

Friday Update...

...this has been a fairly uneventful week until today. So yesterday, I start to leave work and my boss asks if I'm at 40 yet. I let her know I'm over and she asks if I'm coming in on Friday and before I answer, she's like, no, don't come in. You'll be here all weekend, take the day off and you're not allowed to check your email. Sweet!

I head home to meet up with my mom who took me to get new tennis shoes (post on that later) and grocery shopping including Rocky Road Ice Cream-YUM!!! Then we went to Matt's nursery to show my mom where he worked at and I found a heart shaped rock! I showed it to Matt and he told me to keep it in my pocket for when I worry (wish is all the time) and think about how much he loves me...everyone together now-Awwww!!!

So I'm all set for sleeping in on Friday when my phone rings at 7:30 AM and its my credit card company letting me know that they suspect fraud...great! Just what I want to deal with at 7:30 on my day off! Sure enough, someone tried to use it at a gas station in Florida!!! I wish I was in Florida...Randall, are you using my credit card? Anyways, they shut it down and I'm credit card-less until I get a new card sometime next week. What I don't understand though is I know I've taken road trips and used it along the way but this is the first time I've ever been called. Also, don't you have to swipe your credit card at gas stations? Now I'm all paranoid and freaking out!!! I'm going to go take Shadow for a walk now and we might go to the movie in the park tonight (its Jaws!!!) but other than that no much else is planned for today. Everyone have a great weekend!

Busy Sunday...

...so Matt had to work today and I got busy trying to get out of that funk of mine! I woke up and took Shadow on a 2.5 mile walk-thank goodness for the cool weather! Then I did a little laundry and started a roast in the crockpot...mmm, meat and potatoes for dinner! Then to be even, I took Emma on a car ride with me to Wag's where we scored a couple of good deals with coupons!

This afternoon, I made some banana bread because Matt couldn't eat them fast enough. I swear this bunch went straight from green to brown! Then I finished the book I was reading, "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks.

I never read "The Notebook" but my mom brought me a lot more of his books to read. Anyways, it's a super easy read and totally gives you the warm fuzzies inside how the couple falls in love (don't worry, I'm not ruining anything, I mean hello! It's Nicholas Sparks here!). The basis of the book is his wife ends up in a coma and he has to decide whether or not to let her live or to take out the feeding tube...similiar to the Terri Schiavo case. I'm really torn about the decision he made and the one part of the book that I'm still in suspense is that the never really discuss his choice (sorry to be vague but I'm trying not to give it away). I know that if I was in a coma, and I've told Matt many a time, to NOT let me live that way because its no life for me and its not fair to him. Any thoughts from anyone? If you're read the book, let me know so we can discuss w/o ruining it for anyone else.

OH! Side note...I'm definately a 'read the last page first' kinda girl...I feel like I'm out of the loop!!! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Blah...

...I'm in a major funk. Hubs and I discussed it and I think I've been in this major funk for the past two years. I just don't know what to do to change it. Part of it is work right now because it's my busiest time of the year, but only 15 more days and then a break until next year. Another part of it I think is because Matt's lived here his whole life and I haven't. Therefore, he's established meaning he has friends to call and hang out, he's involved in organizations, he's got the in around town and then there's me. I have friends in STL...spread out though. I'm not really involved in anything. I've tried a couple of different avenues and nothings really kept my attention long enough. I've tried getting involved with the fair that he helps out with but aside from the dinner auction (which I'm really glad I helped with), they haven't taken me up on the offer. I have become friends with some of Matt's friends but so many of them are huge partiers. Now don't get me wrong, I have my party days in me, but I just don't like to go out and drink until I'm ridiculous and feel like crap the next day. So like last night, we went out with them and I didn't drink so then the whole night it's, "Why aren't you drinking? Are you mad?" and then all the other crap that comes with having to deal with drunken people.

I feel like I get up, go to work, come home, go to bed and start over. After the 15 days (because I have to be available until 6pm every night), I'm going to start working out...no gym membership because we're trying to save on dollars but I think when I get home from work, I'm going to grab a dog and just walk until I can't walk any more.

Sorry for the post...I'm just needed to vent. Anyone out there have any ideas how to get out of a two year funk?

Sweet Night...

...so last night we went to Kristen and Soup's wedding. I love going back to Joe Town where I went to college, it brings back so many memories and such great times. I love hanging out with Candace and Chad, they always crack us up and no matter what sitaution we're in, it is ALWAYS a good time!!! Here are just a few pics from the night.

Now future brides out there, let me give you a little advice. Cupcakes as your center pieces are bad, bad ideas. I mean all the guests walked into the reception and you could tell that we all had the same thought, "I would love to smash this cupcake in my spouse's face!" Candace and I discussed it all night but knew that we'd be in BIG trouble with the hubs if we did. Towards the end of the night though, I just couldn't resist! I got a little bit of icing and put it on Matt's nose! He wasn't upset about it but I could tell he was going to get revenge. He got a cupcake and tried to do it to me but I had my face blocked with my hands then I spread my fingers to peak and he was eating the cupcake so I couldn't resist and so I gave his hand a little nudge and got him again!!!

Alright, so then big mouth me is braggin' to one of my sorority sisters about it and then out of nowhere, her boyfriend (who I haven't seen in 5 years nor was I ever really tight with him) SMASHES an entire cupcake right in my face...eyes, nose, EVERYWHERE!!! We were all SHOCKED!!! I was laughing, almost couldn't breathe because I was laughing so hard then I looked at Matt whose jaw had dropped to the floor and eyes were bugging out of his head and I could tell he thought I was about to morph into mega-bitch. He immediately started wiping off my face but I knew deep down he was really laughing inside (which he admitted today). Well, if anyone knows me then you know I wasn't about to me one-upped so I got Matt and Candace involved in my sneak attack and got the guy back hard core by total surprise!!! Revenge is sweet...literally in this situation!!!

Road Trip...

...Matt and I are in St. Joseph, MO where I went to college. One of my sorority sisters is getting married tonight so don't worry more pics later! So far it's been a nice getaway...a little road dancing, lunch with the friends, dip in the hot tub and a bathtub to shave my legs!!!

Here are a couple pics so far...the truck in front of us was driving with a soda on its bumper!!! I tried to yell out the window and tell them when we saw them at a McDonald's but Matt drove off too fast!!!

Then we passed Blue Springs which is the home of David Cook from American Idol.

Hope we have a good rest of the trip. More posts and pics later this week!!! Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Justice!!!

…Yes, we finally received a little bit of justice for the whole yard situation. It only took us three days to get in touch with anyone and they were all a little bit rude but in the long run we got what we were looking for. The contractor is going to sod the trench then seed the rest of the yard. Matt said it won’t look 100% the same but it’s a start and we can work on the rest. Then the lady at the city said she’d spoke with her supervisor and that they would replace the tree. Matt told her, “It’s not so much the monetary value of the tree but that was my first Christmas tree with my wife.” She said awww and don’t worry it will be replaced. The City probably thinks we’re crazy because we’re this upset over a tree and then the whole reason behind it! OH WELL! I’m still upset because it won’t be “our” tree but I guess it’s better than nothing. I am happy that it has been solved for the time being; now we’ll just see how long it takes to actually replace and fix everything. Thanks for the positive thoughts everyone! I’ll be sure to post the progress.

PS
Matt had called and left two messages for the lady at the city then I called and apparently I was sounding real bitchy because luckily, she got ahold of Matt and not me and she told him, "Yes, your wife sounded very upset..." then at the end of the convo she said, "So you'll take care of your wife?" Sometimes, you just have to get in touch with your inner bitch to get things done!

Totally Bummin'...

...so Matt and I come home to this in our front yard:

The City is paying for people to have their sewer's replaced which I just had mine done almost 2 years ago. They send home a letter that says call the contractor to make an appointment so we did and he stood us up! Then he calls at 6:30pm last night to say they are coming today. Matt tried to call him back but no one answered. Then we came home to this disaster! Grrr...so much for our hard work in the front yard. I'm so upset, as is Matt, that I don't even know what to say. OH! And that first picture is the first Christmas tree Matt and I had together that we'd planted this spring and Matt's pretty sure its' going to die because half of the tree is yellow already from the exhaust of their machine. Of course, we've been trying to get a hold of someone and NO ONE has called us back!!!

Silly Rabbit...

...better watch out because my precious Emma is apparently chasing these silly things! I never knew she had it in her. This past week, Matt was watering the yard and Emma and I were hanging out talking to him when a baby rabbit hopped by and Emma went after it. It found refuge under the house, here is a pic:

Then on the Fourth of July, I let the dogs out in the backyard and there was a rabbit. It ran into the fence four times trying to get away from her!!! I was whisper yelling at her to stop (it like 7am on a Saturday morning) and I think she caught it once because it squealed then she dropped it. So those silly rabbits better realize Emma is out for them!!!

Holy Sandman!!!

...the church we'd been going to (still plan on going to but we have YET to make it this summer because of either work or out of town) had a Sandman Festival a couple of weekends ago. We weren't able to go but we drove by this past week and here is the creation that they made:

Is that not amazing or what?

Katie Beach...

...was our photographer at our wedding. She did an AWESOME job!!! We kind of had to "talk" her into doing our wedding because she mainly does family and children photography. Well, Katie decided to do weddings on a more regular basis now!!! Be sure to check out her blog and see the cutest darn couple ever!!! (AKA Matt and I). Also, she's looking for mommies-to-be to add some maternity pics to her portfolio.

Here is a picture of myself and the great Katie Beach!!!

Purina Farms...

...last Friday, I went with camp on their field trip to Purina Farms. Here is Haley petting some pigs and a self portrait of the two of us. Purina Farms had an awesome dog show!

Sorry all of these posts are short and sweet but geez...running after a five year old for a whole week is tiring!!! Happy Fourth of July! Think of me...I'll be working in the heat so drink a bottle of water for me!
