Good News but Still Discouraged...

...so I'm three weeks into dieting/exercise and so far I'm -16 pounds which is a great feeling although I still have a long way to go. I haven't really posted about it this time because every time I do, I tend to fall off the wagon so here goes...when I weighed myself on January 4, I seriously was like, "Holy cow! I swore I would never weigh this much..." but I did and I have no one to blame but myself. I was eating everything and anything knowing that I was putting on pounds but I just didn't stop.

So I told myself, I had to get serious and now I'm -16 pounds but I'm still 8 pounds more than my original heaviest so I still have 8 pounds to go before I'm technically at my "starting point" of losing weight. So week one, I lost eight pounds, week two I lost five pounds and then this week, I weighed and I only lost 3 pounds. I'm a little discouraged because I had big numbers (I totally feel like I'm on the Biggest Loser in my own game) and then this week was only a 3. I'm thinking back over the weekend trying to see what I ate that could have done this or what was going on...I'm trying not to beat myself up over it but I am. My realistic goal is to lose the next 8 pounds by Valentine's Day then to lose another 10 after that by my birthday (March 13). I'd be happy with that but we'll see what happens.

What I wouldn't give for a Mountain Dew...so, for those are you out their dieting, what do you miss the most???

Oh man, I am going through the same thing. I started changing my lifestyle in August and have plateaued after losing 25 pounds....but ya gotta keep on truckin'...I'm in it for the long haul, cause I know it's about balance and being healthy, but it can be frustrating. Sounds like you're doing a great job, though. Keep up the good work!

Oh, and I really miss Slurpees. I'm obsessed.

16 pounds, holy crap! You should be SO proud of yourself. Sometimes breaking it up into smaller chunks helps lessen the "how far I have to go" thing. Good luck and keep up the good work.

WOW! Sixteen pounds? That's crazy, girl! You are doing GREAT and many, many people have weeks where they don't lose as much after they lose a whole lotta weight. (i.e., Biggest Loser Week 2) I think you're doing awesome and keep it up! I'm rooting for you!

Go you! I think 16 pounds is a HUGE accomplishment. I've been losing a steady 2 pounds a week, and that seems like a big deal to me, so I'm like bowing down to you. I had that same moment a few weeks ago. I had never seen a number that big, and I thought I was going to die right then. Keep it up! Some times its just nice to know that other people are in the same boat.

I agree, 16 lbs is HUGE and you should be very proud of yourself. losing weight is NOT easy. Don't be so hard on yourself. You can't lose big every week. Just keep eating right and in no time more pounds will come off. Drink lots of water too, that always helps me and makes my skin look pretteh.

Wow 16 lbs in 3 weeks!? That's a ton. I haven't even lost that much in oh, 3 months. It's totally normal to lose tons in the beginning and then slow down so don't get discouraged. Keep up the good work!

I've lost 16lbs in 18 months. Be excited about the 16 lbs! Recently (I've lost 5 lbs.) I joined weight watchers online which is great so far for me and the wii (we saved money for 18 months to get it) and wii fit has proved to be working very well. Keep me posted and once it gets warm come out to my place to do some hiking. (by warm I mean 45 or above) By the way do you have a pool at your facility??
