Mowing...

...I know it's weird but I love mowing the yard. Last year was the first time I'd EVER mowed and I absolutely LOVED it! Growing up, my sister and I were not allowed to mow because we lived on, well, basically a vertical hill and our uncle lived on a similar one and his mower flipped but luckily his watch saved his hand...SO long story short, we were never allowed to mow. Probably a good thing because if I had, I probably wouldn't like mowing so much.

Last summer, I mowed once a week and Matt mowed once a week. This year, I was not so much into mowing. I think I've only done it once or twice this year. Here's a picture of Mattie Mo mowin'...
Not only do I like to mow but I like to watch him mow. Sometimes I sit backwards on the couch in the living room with a dog on either side of me watching from the cool inside and sometimes I sit on the steps in the backyard watching Mattie go back and forth and back and forth....

I think it's therapeutic for me, just the steady hum of the mower and being able to see a difference in the grass length (I think that's the OCD in me that loves that part). I think I just get in a trance, forgetting about the worries of today and tomorrow...just watching the tall grass get shorter and shorter while the mower hums loudly enough to keep any thoughts away.

Funny as I started typing this post, my neighbor started mowing...

I've never mowed before. My hubby doesn't trust me (he's a FREAK about our yard and wants the line to be perfect) so I have never mowed. But I also like watching him work - something kind of manly about it. It's nice to see a man who appreciates his yard and works hard for it! :)

Hey are you available to mow up this way? haha

I have not mowed much in the last few weeks--the lack of rain has meant no green grass growing.

We've never had a yard to mow, but I think when we do, I'll enjoy doing it. I'm much more of a perfectionist than my husband and being my dad's daughter, I really think I'll be the one telling him he doesn't mow to my standards, ha! But I agree, the mower is somewhat therapeutic.

PS. I'm a new follower - love your blog. And we're moving to Missouri in a couple weeks, I see that's where you are? I can't wait to get there!

I've never mowed in my life! We've only lived in 1 house where we had to mow (even though our crap landlord was SUPPOSED to do it...he never did) and it just feels like a nasty job. ;)

Funny story. I mowed our lawn for the first time when I was 12.

Within 2.5 minutes I fell into a hole and fractured my foot.

I've ever mowed again ( we have
landscapers)

Hubby likes to mow too. It is his quiet time. Than I read your uncle story and that is scary!!

The sound of a mower and the smell of fresh cut grass just screams summer time, and I love it too! I have tried doing in myself... but I think I would rather watch :)

I laughed so hard when you said it's the OCD part of you that loves it. I am the same way. There's nothing like a freshly mowed lawn in the summer :)

I LOVE to mow. I haven't done it since last year because hubs got rid of the push mower and I have NO CLUE how to use the riding mower.
