Help! What To Do With This Blog???

...I have to say that I really miss blogging! Part of the reason I'm taking a break is because I was really letting my free time get consumed with blogging...I felt like I had to have a post every day, I felt like I had to read every blog in my blog list and I had to comment on every blog too. It was like I'd come home from work, rush around to get things done, fix dinner, shower and then I'd get on the computer for 2-3 hours/night just doing blog stuff! It's amazing how much free time I have now!

The other part is because I don't really know what to blog about here. Having experienced infertility, I'm really trying to be aware of my readers. I know how hard it was to read about pregnancy when that's all I wanted. At the same time though, I do feel like this is my blog and I want to blog about my life which includes that. I've kind of turned my infertility blog into my "pregnancy" blog if you will. I debated big time over that but my justification  is during that first trimester (and still now), I had no idea what was normal or not so I wanted to document that for those experiencing the same thing. And aside from pregnancy, I just don't have a whole lot going on right now outside of work (which I try not to blog about although we did have cake tasting at work on Tuesday which was AWESOME!). Well, I should rephrase that, I don't have a lot going on that's blogworthy! I actually do have a lot going on but it's fundraising stuff for ALA, promoting Hospital Hill and trying to tell my husband that Bethsheba is NOT an option for a girl name!

So help me out, readers! Please leave me some ideas of things you'd like to see me blog about....my thoughts on Albert or Matheny, my ideal holiday menu, pics of my cute furbabies, my thoughts on Ugly Sweater Parties....I need some motivation here! Please nothing political, I don't follow politics enough to do a blog post on that.

Let the ideas start flowing...GO!

I am in the same boat. I love blogging but just feel like my time is so thin as is what to do. I really like reading about your training? Do you have another goal? Miss you!

I totally hear you. I miss my blog sometimes but other times it was just a time suck and I'm glad to have the extra time now. Food is always a good topic, holiday traditions, crafty stuff, tv or movie stuff. But don't blog just cause you feel obligated to, do it cause you love it!

I appreciate your honesty here.

I think everyone who blogs gets to that point, and I am glad you stopped before you became frustrated. With my blog, I had to cut back on posting, respond to only to comments that ask a question, and blog surf when I can. I now blog with the understanding that I just can't do it all.

For content, of course, I want to hear about your sports and trip adventures. I think writing about your pregnancy and motherhood experiences will be entertaining as well.

I've been going through the same thing lately. I have to say, it's really nice to not have to post every day. In a way I kind of stopped caring, but not really. I still love my blog and blogging, I love getting comments and reading everyone's posts. I've just stopped commenting as much as I used to. I follow so many people on Twitter now that I can let them know what I think there. I almost never visit blogs outside of google reader either, but I have time for so many other things or to just relax without thinking of something creative to write or to entertain people.

I say write when you can and when you want about whatever may be happening at the moment. I'd love to hear more about your holiday menu. I'm trying to change some things up this year.

I would actually love to hear all about your pregnancy!
( pictures, birthing plans, names, nursery, how you're feeling, things you're looking forward to, baby purchases, etc.)

Home projects?

Your christmas wish list.

Menus for the week

Exercise while being pregnant.

Any funny matt stories?

Just some ideas :)

Just embrace blogging about pregnancy and then baby. It is really nice to go back and see exactly when certain things happened. I only blog for my family to keep up with us and the show that is is completely possible to have a child and pets (and that neither have eaten the other).

I get writers block sometimes, once for a year! I get inspired (sometimes) by other blogs I read. I will review my blog list, read them and see what I feel then, if it's nothing I go to yahoo news and see how I feel after reading about what's going on in the world today. I personally like reading blogs that have pictures in them, reading about someones everyday life (it's nice to see life outside of mine), struggles because we are all human, and of course personal views on anything. I guess that makes me sound nosy...I don't get out much! I would love to hear your thoughts on an Ugly Sweater Party, my husband and I were talking about this the other day!

I've been blogging since 2005. First, it was all about my wedding plans (got married in '06). Then about newlywed life and whatever randomness I wanted to post. I learned a long time ago to not let the pressure of blogging get to me. I don't need to post every day, or even every week. Now that people use feed readers, they'll get an update whenever you post so it's not like I'm wasting people's time as they check my site daily for a new post. They don't. And that's fine.

I know a lot of pregnant women don't want to bombard their readers with pregnancy related posts. But who are you doing a favor for by doing that? Your readers? Maybe some, but definitely not all. Because some of us WANT to hear that kind of stuff. And it's not doing you any favors either because now you won't have any documentation of what you've been experiencing. (This is assuming you didn't have a second blog.)

I approach blogging this way: I treat it as if I'm talking to a close friend. I write like I'm emailing my best friend. Someone that wants to hear all of my mundane ramblings, no matter the topic. And if that isn't working for me, I think "what do I want to remember from this period, this day, this moment, in my life?" And then I write about that.

Your blog is for you above anyone else. So don't worry about pleasing others with your topics. Just be respectful in the way that you write (you always are) and all will be fine. Good luck1
