Will Run for Chocolate!!!

...it's been 15 months since I've had AR and for 15 months I've been saying I'm going to lose the baby weight. But after 15 months, the baby weight and some is still there. I'll get back on the horse for a few weeks then life happens and I get off track only to gain back what I've lost and having to start all over again.

I'm trying a new approach this time: blogging about it. I don't want to be embarrassed in front of you all so hopefully this will hold me accountable. The funny thing is that the fitness goal I'm working towards is a 5k in December...that serves chocolate!!! Yes, I will run for chocolate!

Jenni, my sister, H and I (the Turquoise Turtles!) all signed up for the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k here in the STL. They have an expo on Friday and Saturday which aside from your normal expo also includes chocolate and hot cocoa samples. Plus your "goodie bag" is a sweet (pun intended!) wicking material fleece hoodie! You have to go to their page to see it, that alone will make you want to register but then again, I'm a sucker for a good hoodie. Last week, Jenni, my sis and I were tweeting about the race and the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k tweeted back that last year, they served 28,750 pounds of chocolate fondue!?! Obviously, we're doing the 5k but maybe in 2014 I'll shoot for the 15k (9.3 miles). I'm super excited about it and it's been awhile that I've been excited about anything that involves exercise.

When we "ran" the Color Run back in April, it was fun but I was hurting. I was so out of shape and even though we just walked it, my whole body hurt which was no fun. I mean, hello-I've ran 3 half marathons and a full and I'm in pain from walking a 5k?!? So I'm starting fresh, from the beginning as though I've never run before because that's the point I'm at.

I'm starting off slow by doing a 30 day squat challenge and getting back into the habit of running. Matt dug the treadmill out of storage and got it set up for me. The first night I tried it, I ran for about 3 minutes and almost passed out, even walking was killing me. I made it 9 minutes and had to call it quits. When I got off, I realized I was run/walking at the steepest incline and realized I could make it flat-duh! Night 2, I put it flat and it wouldn't stay there. Matt had to rig it up so that it would stay flat. Night 3 and I finally ran a mile-yah!!! It took me 12:28 and I was hurting but it's a starting point and I have almost 4 months to train for the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k. I'll check in with you all weekly and let you know how I'm doing. Anyone else that wants to run with us, feel free to join us!

My fitness/weight loss goals by December 15 (race day):
1. Run the Hot Chocolate 5k in under 40 minutes.
2. Get my gorgeous wedding ring, that now has an added stone for sweet AR, to fit!
3. Not pounds, not inches, but just comfortably fit in my jeans.

I did the hotchocolate walk last year. Wanted to do the run but my partner in crime wasn't in shape. This year it's a week after my due date. Guessing I won't be running/walking fast this year either. Good luck! I know you can do this! And the chocolate is SOOOO worth it!!!

You can do it! Good for you, at least you ran the mile! I lost a bunch of my baby weight (& 20 pounds extra) but then after I stopped breastfeeding things have gotten back to where they were before I had the boys (& a couple of extra pounds). I downloaded a fitness app with workouts on my phone so I'm hoping it will help me. Like you, I have started doing things then fallen off the "wagon". I need to really do more moving with the boys & use them as weights, etc & maybe that will help! I can't wait to hear about all your progress (ups & downs - hopefully more down pounds).

Good for you! I've read your blog for a long time but don't know if I have ever commented, sorry. I just can't seem to stay motivated. Did a 1/2 marathon last year and messed up both knees. Now I just seem to be getting fatter. :( Started lifting weights to strengthen recently which seems to have helped a bit. Anyway, I wish I lived closer, would love to join you on your journey. Perhaps I can just join you on the pants fitting goal.
Thank you for sharing your story. Your family is beautiful.

These are such great goals, especially the clothing fit instead of numbers on a scale! If you ran a mile on your 3rd night on the treadmill, that's way ahead of the game!

Have you tried the couch to 5K program? Best running program ever. I mean, I know you've ran a lot in the past, but as someone who has not, the couch to 5K program was the best thing for me. Prebaby, I was able to run 3 miles nonstop in a little more than 30 minutes. It'll be a bit before I can work back up to that again, but I'm hopeful!

I've come to the conclusion that bloggers are runners.
